Anne Kelly is eighteen, on her own, and five months pregnant. But she’s confident she can handle it: life in the slums and smoky factories of 19th century Leeds has taught her to look after herself. What life hasn’t taught her is how to handle baby-snatching fairies.

At first Anne refuses to believe her coworker Margie’s claims that the masters of their mill are up to magical—and deadly—mischief. But when she’s framed for Margie’s unnatural murder, Anne must expose the true nature of Thistle & Down. She needs to confront creatures from the darkest fairytales and stop them before they steal every baby in Leeds, including her own.
